A referee is the person of authority in taekwondo who is responsible for presiding over the match from a neutral point of view and making on-the-fly decisions that enforce the rules of the sport, including sportsmanship decisions such as ejection. The referee is also in charge of stopping fights when a fighter "cannot intelligently defend himself" in order to prevent him from incurring further damage.
The referee shall declare competition commands, winner and loser, deduction of points, warnings and retiring. All the referees’ declarations shall be made after the results are confirmed.
The referees and judges shall wear the uniform designated by the World Taekwondo (WT). The color of uniform shall be as follows:
